This has to be IMHO the best comic being produced at the moment, its from IMAGE publishing and costs a measly $1.99.
Warren Ellis wanted to do something different (for a change!) in comics, produce a comic that can be bought with spare change and still be a decent read.....each issue is a self contained story that hints at a bigger picture. So you don't need to read every issue (But you should).
Each issue has 16 pages of art, which may not sound like enough space to get a complete story into, untill i tell you that each page complies to a standard 9 panel grid (which isn't always strictly adhered to) the whole book is a standard 24 page issue.......what makes up the last pages?? well its not adverts! no adverts inside the comic at all....No what makes up the last pages is a section called 'Backmatter', this is kind of a letters page crossed with a directors commentary on the issue and it is worth buying the issues so far for that conent alone.
Ellis & Templesmith (incidentaly the only artist crazy enough to take this gig with no moneys upfront) have done a wonderful job so far with this book. the art and writing are truly a match made in geek heaven.
Issue #3 is out now with issue #4 just around the corner. (i think issues 1 & 2 are being re-printed so look out for them)
I cannot begin to explain just how deeply this book has re-affirmed my love for the comic book media.
Enough rambling now.........
Just Buy This Book!!!!
Cheers

BEN TEMPLESMITH Detective Richard Fell is transferred over the bridge from the big city to Snowtown, a feral district whose police investigations numbers three and a half people (one detective has no legs). Dumped in this collapsing urban trashzone, Richard Fell is starting all over again. In a place where nothing seems to make any sense, Fell clings to the one thing he knows to be true: Everybody's hiding something. Even him.
