well i finished and enjoyed Point Blank, so the logical step now would be to read the ongoing 'Sleeper' series.

but i have decided to read Global Frequency, Warren ellis 12 issue run has had me intrigued for a while now, so its time i got cracking with it.

after that i think i will check out either Gotham Central or maybe Y: The Last Man.

The Walking Dead Continued....

well still cracking on with reading this comic series......and still loving it to bits!

I'm on #21 at the moment and i am still enjoying it immensely.....so many twists and unexpected turns so far with seemingly no let up.

But before i get back to reading TWD#21 i must mention a comic i read last night and enjoyed too...its called Team Zero, its from Wildstorm Publishing (and its the first wildstorm book i have read.....though i must read sleeper coz i hear thats great).

Its Written by Chuck Dixon with Art by the Legend that is Doug Mahnke.

sort of a WWII scret special forces type story
i really liked it...check it out.

Written by Chuck Dixon; Art and cover by Doug Mahnke and Sandra Hope

Acclaimed writer Chuck Dixon (NIGHTWING, ROBIN) revisits the Team he helped create
and enlists super-star artists Doug Mahnke (BATMAN, JLA) & Sandra Hope (INFINITE CRISIS covers, DANGER GIRL) for a 6-issue tale of heroism and bloodshed.

The year is 1945. In the twilight of World War II,
a clash of ideologies leads to a colder, more sinister conflict. And the first battle of this new World War will be fought on the eastern frontier of Germany by a band of seven American commandos.

Codename Deathblow has been assigned a mission of dire importance to the future of American national security: reach German test labs in Peenemunde, Germany before the Soviets can, and evacuate all personnel. Step one: gather the Team!

In the epic tradition of the original Team Seven and such films as The Dirty Dozen and Saving Private Ryan comes a blood-and-guts tale set in the waning days of World War II.

Wildstorm Universe | 32pg. | Color | $2.99 US

The Fountain GN Preview

Here are the preview pictures of the Graphic Novel as promised.

The Fountain, Film & Directors Cut Graphic Novel.

Hi Guys,
just thought i would throw something up on the blog about this film/graphic novel that i am super-psyched about seeing in 2006.

The writer/director is Darren Aronofsky.......the man behind the indie classics Pi & Requiem for a Dream. Two of my favourie indy films of the last few years. (Check them out if you haven't already)

The film is about the search for the tree of life, (The Tree of Life, in the Book of Genesis, is a tree whose fruit gives everlasting life, i.e. immortality.) The man in the film (Hugh Jackman-replacing brad pitt after "artistic differences.....but thats another story) is searching for said tree to save his dying wife in the near future.

It sounds confusing because it probably is...... gonna be a real Head F****.

The film has been in and out of production for a fair few years now due to problems with its stars and the filming in australia. Aronofsky himself at times thought the film was never going to be made so he kept the rights to make the film into a graphic novel......which is what he did in between down-time on the film. Between the film getting started and the film actually being finished the budget of the film was slashed massively($75 - $40M) , Aronofsky had to re-write the film to meet the new smaller budget, and with the re-write went a lot of the more ambitious set pieces and scope.

For that reason i am really looking forward to the Graphic Novel immensly as Aronofsky has said that it will be like a directors cut of the movie........the movie he would have made if he had the original budget.

I have ordered the said Hardcover Graphic Novel from Amazon.com (US) as it had been withdrawn in the UK.

Here are some reviews and 'The Fountain' related Blogs.

Fell

This has to be IMHO the best comic being produced at the moment, its from IMAGE publishing and costs a measly $1.99.

Warren Ellis wanted to do something different (for a change!) in comics, produce a comic that can be bought with spare change and still be a decent read.....each issue is a self contained story that hints at a bigger picture. So you don't need to read every issue (But you should).

Each issue has 16 pages of art, which may not sound like enough space to get a complete story into, untill i tell you that each page complies to a standard 9 panel grid (which isn't always strictly adhered to) the whole book is a standard 24 page issue.......what makes up the last pages?? well its not adverts! no adverts inside the comic at all....No what makes up the last pages is a section called 'Backmatter', this is kind of a letters page crossed with a directors commentary on the issue and it is worth buying the issues so far for that conent alone.

Ellis & Templesmith (incidentaly the only artist crazy enough to take this gig with no moneys upfront) have done a wonderful job so far with this book. the art and writing are truly a match made in geek heaven.

Issue #3 is out now with issue #4 just around the corner. (i think issues 1 & 2 are being re-printed so look out for them)

I cannot begin to explain just how deeply this book has re-affirmed my love for the comic book media.

Enough rambling now.........Just Buy This Book!!!!

Cheers
KYUSS

written by WARREN ELLIS art & cover by BEN TEMPLESMITH Detective Richard Fell is transferred over the bridge from the big city to Snowtown, a feral district whose police investigations numbers three and a half people (one detective has no legs). Dumped in this collapsing urban trashzone, Richard Fell is starting all over again. In a place where nothing seems to make any sense, Fell clings to the one thing he knows to be true: Everybody's hiding something. Even him.

Welcome

Hi guys,
